Winter Blanket Drive

Imagine sleeping on the streets without a blanket during the winter. Hundreds of individuals, women and children face this situation everyday as they do not have a place they can call home. Sadly, they find themselves on the streets, homeless.

We as Ibwe Imbokodo Women’s Trust decided to conduct a blanket drive by bringing the gift of warmth to the vulnerable living on the streets. We braved the cold winter’s night and embarked on our winter outreach programme.

It can never be an easy life living on the streets, we interacted with most of the recipients of the blankets, individuals spanning from young boys, men, women and children. They spoke of the many hardships that they face, however, in the midst of this, they remain hopeful and can only but dream of a brighter tomorrow. Their only wish, to have a decent place they can call home and get off the streets.
